At Heirloom, we love dogs! All of the dogs. We have teamed up with Margo, a professional dog trainer, and will host private classes in our back patio area starting Friday, February 8th.

Meet the Trainer:

Margo Whitaker BS, CBC, CGC

Trainer & Behaviorist, Margo Whitaker, has her Bachelors of Science in Conservation Education, and has spent 11 years as an animal behaviorist working with dogs, exotic, and farm animals.

She started her career as a volunteer and employee at the Toledo Zoo, Ohio. There she excelled in animal behavior and began assisting in training various animals at the Toledo Zoo. She trained goats, pot belly pigs, raptors, and other small mammals. She then specialized in Bat conservation and research, while working as a dog trainer at PetSmart. She then moved to Colorado and began training at Front Range K9 Academy under Jennifer Hime. While at Front Range she has trained over 600 dogs, was certified in Canine Good Citizen, and specialized in dog aggression.

Margo found her passion working with dogs with her first foster dog, Odie. Odie was an abuse case with profound separation anxiety and aggression toward men. She made it her job to help Odie so he could find his forever home and now wishes to continue helping others with their companion dogs.
She now has two furry children—a 7 year old Australian Shepherd named Bohannan from Colorado, who was rehomed because of his stubborn ‘sheriffing’ tendencies, and Smalls, a newly acquired puppy from the streets of Tulsa whose breed and insatiable appetite for acorns remains yet a mystery.

Class Expectations:

By the end of the 9 weeks you and your dog will be able to:
- Leave it
- Wait (in and out of doorways)
- Heel in the face of distractions
- Sit
- Sit stay 6’ for 1 minute
- Sit stay with distractions
- Down and Down stay
- Come when called at 6’ away

Breakdown of classes/costs:

Dog evaluation:
- Friday February 1st
- $55, must attend before you can sign up for a group class.

8 week training course:
- February 8th - March 29th
- $40 per 1 hour session.

- Payments can be made per session, full payment, or a split payment. Cash or check only.
